The new draft George Town Planning Scheme is now available for preliminary public comment as to its contents.
This is not the formal consultation required once the Scheme has been certified by the Resource Planning and Development Commission (RPDC) as ready for public consultation. The community, Council and the RPDC will all be inputting changes to the draft Scheme over the next few months.
Council will be holding public meetings at Hillwood, George Town and Weymouth, probably in late April or early May to provide information on the draft Scheme and the process to be undertaken to formally adopt it.
Further information on the process of adopting planning schemes is available on the RPDC website: http://www.rpdc.tas.gov.au/planning/assessment_of_draft_planning_schemes
