Its 6,500 residents live predominantly in the urban areas of George Town and Low Head, the coastal settlements that face onto Bass Strait, and the rural communities around Pipers River and Hillwood.As an important sub-regional centre, George Town offers a wide range of services for residents in the lower reaches of the Tamar Valley and surrounding farming communities.
