Halls & Facilities
There are a number of Council-owned community facilities available for hire. For details / booking enquiries, please phone the George Town Council on 6382 8800.
Note:
- Ineligible events include birthday parties for ages 16 - 25
- No sporting based activities will be permitted without providing public liability insurance.

Venue Information
Memorial Hall : Hall and Stage
The Memorial Hall is the ideal venue for events requiring a stage area such as plays, bands, trivia nights and Club presentation dinner.
Capacity: 150 - 200 guests
Equipment: Chairs, Tables and catering equipment and tea & coffee making facilities are available to be hired.
Memorial Hall : Supper Room
The Supper Room features a bar with tea & coffee making facilities. It is ideally suited for smaller functions such as baby showers, younger children's birthday parties or as a meeting room.
Capacity : 20 - 30 guests
Equipment : Bar fridge, zip boiler and crockery for serving hot or cold beverages can be hired.
Memorial Hall : Kitchen
The Memorial Hall Kitchen has ample space and equipment to cater for a wide range of events. Some of the equipment provided includes:
- eight gas cook tops
- two ovens
- two microwave ovens
- walk-in fridge with additional upright fridge and freezer
- wet bain-marie
- commerical dishwasher
- crockery and cutlery to cater for 200 guests
Memorial Hall : Graham Fairless Centre
The Graham Fairless Centre is suited for larger events and will have the capacity to seat up to 300 tabled guests. The Centre is in close proximity to the Memorial Hall kitchen and Supper Room. Bar facilities make it the ideal venue for large scale events.
The hall also features a full size netball, basketblal and three badminton courts with appropriate run off areas surrounding the court markings.
Capacity: 300 tabled guests
Equipment: Chairs, Tables and catering equipemnt can be hired.
York Cove
York Cove Centre
This facility is not available for general hire and is only used in certain instances under consultation with Council.

Please note: You will need to print the relevant form, complete the details and return to the Council office, either by post or in person. No bookings can be confirmed until we have received the completed form (including signed agreement) and a copy of a current Certificate of Currency for Public Liability insurance (where applicable).
